About the Museum:

Established in 1983, the Birdtail Country Museum is housed in two adjacent buildings, one building being the former Union Bank, a municipally designated historic building. The upper level of the building is fully furnished to resemble the manager’s residence from the early 1900’s. On the main floor you will find a variety of displays showcasing local history. The museum highlights a particular theme each year.  The Birdtail Country Museum houses over 5000 artifacts including household, military, archaelogical and indiginous artifacts. There is also an extensive collection of  research materials in the form of diaries, memoirs, letters, personal accounts, school records, maps, photographs, local publications etc. The museum office can be found in a small building next to the Union Bank where additional research materials are located. An extensive index of Research Materials can be found at www.birtleheritage.ca
