About the Museum:

McCreary Heritage Advisory Committee cares for 3 heritage sites of significance to our region.

The Satterthwaite cabin is a Provincial Heritage site located on Highway #5 four KM south of McCreary. This restored log cabin was home to local pioneers.

The CN Railway Station houses our local Museum collection of household, farm and community items preserved for future generations. The building is designated as a municipal heritage site.

Canal School is a fine example of a one room school that was in use locally before consolidation.

In 2021, our committee completed a virtual walking tour using oral histories provided by former and present residents beginning with a teacher who taught at the Canal school.

We are excited to hear that we received a 2022 New Horizens for Seniors grant for an Oral History Project. This funding will assist us in interveiwing, recording, transcribing, and preserving the voices in conversation with at least 30 residents.
