About the Museum:

The University of Manitoba’s School of Art Gallery (SOAG), established in 1965 as Gallery One One One, shows and collects contemporary and historical art, maintaining and evolving collections in the School of Art Gallery's Permanent Collection and the FitzGerald Study Centre collection. In 2012 the Gallery and its permanent collection moved to state of the art purpose-built facilities on the main floor of the new ARTlab building at 180 Dafoe Road.

As a nested organization, SOAG also supports the educational and cultural goals of the School of Art (SOA) and the University of Manitoba (UM). The Gallery's current aims include privileging marginalized perspectives in its collecting and exhibiting practices, and strengthening ties to the Winnipeg arts community.

The Gallery offers access to: contemporary and historical art exhibitions; an extensive collection of works by Manitoban, Canadian, and International artists; a special collection of artworks of artist Manitoba's only member of Canada's Group of Seven Artists, Lionel LeMoine FitzGerald. (The archives of the FitzGerald Study Centre are now available through University of Manitoba Archives and Special Collections.)
