Association of Manitoba Museums

Museums Awareness Initiative

As the voice of our museum community, and in keeping with our dedication to promote excellence in preserving and presenting Manitoba’s heritage, the Association of Manitoba Museums (AMM) has an initiative that raises the profile of Museums in Manitoba and increases heritage awareness of museums located throughout the province.

The Museums Awareness Initiative (M.A.I.) of the AMM recognizes what museums do to preserve, present, and promote heritage during the month of May and to celebrate Manitoba Day on May 12 and International Museums Day on May 18.

Does your museum participate in?

  • Manitoba Day Celebrations (they do not have to take place on May 12, they just have to be linked to Manitoba Day in some way)
  • Heritage Fair (partnerships or activities)
  • Free admission or reduced admission to the public on a special day
  • Special activities to promote International Museums Day on May 18.

Let us know, and we will help publicize your events through the AMM Messenger (bi-weekly e-newsletter) and social media.

The Association of Manitoba Museums acknowledges that we are on Treaty 1 territory and the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the homeland of the Métis Nation.
