Celebrate Manitoba Day, May 12th!

On May 12th, 1870, The Manitoba Act, which created the Province of Manitoba, was given royal Assent, paving the way for the proclamation of July 15th, 1870. On May 12th, 1966, Manitoba’s official flag was dedicated and unfurled for the first time. In 1986, May 12th was designated as Manitoba Day in perpetuity, in recognition of the importance of this day in the history of the province.

Many of Manitoba’s museums will be celebrating Manitoba Day with special events and activities. Click here to see what’s happening.

Manitoba Day, May 12, is just around the corner!

Remember, if you’re having a special event or activity to celebrate our province’s 140th birthday, inform Sheryl Kolt (Sheryl.Kolt@gov.mb.ca) at Culture, Heritage and Tourism in order to be eligible for the draw for a Made in Manitoba gift basket. (Link to page with picture and description of gift basket)

An event can be anything that you wish it to be. It can even be held in a different month if you don’t think you can trust May weather. Just so long as it’s stated somewhere that it’s in celebration of Manitoba Day.

Museums do not have to be an AMM member in order to qualify for the draw. They just have to be a museum in Manitoba.

Watch for our upcoming television spots on PBS.
