HBC Local History Grant Program

The HBC Local History Grant Program helps museums, history societies, schools, and individuals with history projects in their community. The next deadline for review is quickly approaching and organizations are reminded to get their applications in before August 1st, 2008. HBC has just announced the first 26 grant recipients for 2008. These recipients, as well as those from 2007, can be viewed on our Google Map. Over the next review deadlines, August 1st, and October 1st, HBC will be awarding $75,000.

Organizations are eligible for a grant of up to $1,000 each. To help with your proposal we would be happy to discuss your project in advance. Your project will be stronger if it addresses a need of your local teachers, students, researchers, museums or archives.

We are looking for the most creative and engaging projects that will use the funding to the fullest possible extent.

If you have any questions or would like more information about the program click here, email us or call us at 1-800-816-6777 ext.21. Download the application form.

If you are interested in learning more about the recipients from our first round of applications in 2008 and 2007, please visit our Google Map. We hope these projects will inspire you as much as they have inspired us. If you know a group or organization dedicated to promoting local history, please pass on this information and encourage them to apply.
