About the Museum:

Kay-Nah-Chi-Wah-Nung Historical Centre is owned and operated by Rainy River First Nations. The Centre offers interpretive tours of the interior exhibits and outdoor tours of the trail systems that lead to the largest known concentration of burial mounds in North America. The Centre has a collections space with over 16,000 artifacts and objects, a gift shop that showcases local Indigenous artwork, and a restaurant with a menu featuring traditional Ojibwe ingredients. Designated a National Historic Site in 1970, the importance of this site has been acknowledged for generations by all cultures and peoples who have lived, traveled, and admired the majestic Manidoo Ziibi or Spirit River (Rainy River)
