About the Museum:
The Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada offers a unique mix of history and science. Enter through ‘Gate 1’ – the original Trans Canada Airlines (now Air Canada) passenger terminal – step back in time and let the pioneer aviators of the north take you on an inspirational journey through time!
Your visit will be filled with tales from the sky, great ideas (and not so great ideas) in flight, and a true appreciation for the adventuring spirit.
The is Canada’s largest aviation book store. We carry books that feature the Canadian Air Force, bush flying, aviation biographies, children’s stories and more. There is also a wide selection of aviation gifts, memorabilia, toys, model kits, prints, posters and pins. Be sure to drop in while you’re visiting the museum.
Skyways Discovery Zone is the interactive discovery exhibit – a place where children can interact with the exhibits that demonstrate gravity and other aspects of flight. There are cockpits to climb into, engines to explore and many buttons and levers to push and pull… and an indoor runway perfect for paper airplanes.
Paper Plane Games
Ready to Fly! Join us at the Royal Aviation Museum of Western Canada as we salute the Canada Summer Games with our very own PAPER PLANE GAMES! All day, everyday from July 28-August 13!
Scour our 90,000 sq. ft. hangar with our Flags of Canada Scavenger Hunt featuring all 13 provincial and territorial flags.
Test an array of designs in our Paper Plane Factory. Customize your paper plane in our Science Soars: Aerodynamic Test Zone to make it fly farther, faster, and longer. Put your plane through its paces with a variety of skill testing games and challenges.
Everyday at 1pm test your design against other visitors from all over the country for the furthest distance throw and see if your Province or Territory comes out on top. Each day the champion plane will be posted on our social media leaderboard. The winning Province or Territory will have bragging rights and be announced on social media on August 14th.
Fold it, tweak it and test the aerodynamics before releasing your plane for a place in our record books!
