Glass Churn

"When store bought just won't do"
Glass churn with lid paddles turned to process cream into butter Glass churn

Story

This small glass churn was used to make small quantities of butter or buttermilk for home use.

Cream was poured in the top and the handle was turned to move the paddles inside the jar. The cream would eventually separate into butter and buttermilk. The butter was then removed, washed, and shaped after salt was added. The buttermilk was used for baking or as a beverage.
