Communion Chalice

"Made in France, but came to Manitoba"
Brass Chalice, made in France, sold in Montreal, used in Tolstoi Holy Trinity Church Chalice

Story

This Brass Chalice was made in France and used by the Tolstoi Holy Trinity Church until it closed in 2011.

The church was the centre of life in rural Manitoba. Each Sunday people would gather to pray and socialize. The church was very important to the parishioners and the early pioneers who donated significant resources and time to establish the parish.

In the early 20th century, Manitoba had more than 80 Polish parishes. With the movement of people from rural areas to urban centres, now no more than 20 of these Parishes are still active.
