About the Museum:

Located on an old station platform in historic Union Station the Winnipeg Railway Museum presents a collection of locomotives, cars and specialized railway equipment that tell the story of steel wheels on steel rails. Visit the Countess of Dufferin, the first steam locomotive on the Canadian Prairies, brought here in 1877 to construct the Canadian Pacific Railway. See our colonist sleeper, the car that may have brought your family to their new home. All the while, a few tracks over, you might see one of Via Rail's working passenger trains and Canadian National’s mainline where the current generation of railway technology continues to move the nation’s commerce from coast to coast.

Museum Events:

Railway Days - 3rd weekend of September
