About the Museum:
In 1989, Parks Canada designated the entire Village of Neubergthal as a national historic site; having national historic and architectural significance, as well as being the best surviving example (on the prairies) of an early permanent agricultural settlement. All of this in an authentic setting-- a working village today.
Neubergthal was founded in the late 1870s by Mennonites who immigrated from Southern Russia (modern day Ukraine). At least two barns date from the original founding years, as well as many other early housebarns dating around the 1920s. Adjacent to one of the original housebarns is a restored one-room country school. All the buildings mentioned are available for visits and tours year round; local guides and storytellers are also available by appointment.
