Shoal Lake Mounted Police Museum, opened in 1984, was designated as Manitoba's Official Mounted Police Museum in 2004. The Museum's structure is a replica of the original North West Mounted Police barracks that was built at the south end of Shoal Lake in 1875. The Museum's collection includes: authentic uniforms of the Mounted Police, various police artifacts, pioneer artifacts that are related to the NWMP era, several framed pieces of art related to NWMP and RCMP, a blacksmith shop with suitable displays and a First Nations display.

The Association of Manitoba Museums acknowledges that we are on Treaty 1 territory and the land on which we gather is the traditional territory of Anishinaabe, Cree, Oji-Cree, Dakota, and Dene Peoples, and the National Homeland of the Red River Metis

We respect the Treaties that were made on these territories, we acknowledge the harms and mistakes of the past, and we dedicate ourselves to move forward in partnership with Indigenous communities in a spirit of reconciliation and collaboration.
